What is this workshop about?

How can we accelerate progress in student literacy performance? Make every minute in our HPE classrooms powerful!

Students need to be able to think independently. But how can we support our students to come to thoughtful conclusions about texts based on concepts in HPE without teacher input and guidance every time?

Find out how, through the use of powerful Thinking Tools.

In this workshop participants will:

  • Learn major comprehension strategies and the links to student metacognition
  • Discover the attributes of powerful Thinking Tools what they are, how they are used, and how to implement some as routines in your class
  • Create links between what the students are reading and analysis and evaluation of information needed to understand topics related to HPE
  • Apply two highly adaptable Thinking Tools to specific HPE-specific content assessment such as personal identify or the personal, social, cultural, environmental and health practices in different contexts.
