Double Entry Journal for Maths is a reading and research scaffold which uses reflection to improve students' comprehension of what they read.  Students keep a journal as they read, noting down quotations from the text and at the same time writing reflections, comments and questions about those quotations.  At the end, students not only have a record of what they've read, but have also thought carefully about it and processed it at a deeper level.
